Jack Bober X Ernie's

An Ernie’s DOER Feature with Jack Bober

Frame & Break was captured in 10 hours over a single day. Just the right people, the right place, and the right energy.

This film follows Jack Bober, a 22 year old photographer from Marin County who has been documenting Ocean Beach since he was 12. What started with a GoPro and small shorebreak waves turned into years of saving for cameras, lenses, and eventually a water housing. That was when everything changed. Swimming out into 10–15 foot Ocean Beach is a niche thing. Not many people are doing it. That is where Jack found his lane.

He has spent years running around San Francisco trying to see a place he has shot a hundred times in a new way. When the waves are good, he enters a different mindset. Outside of shooting, he is cycling, hiking, or swimming, staying ready for the few big days each year.

This film also captures his longtime friend Rex Hill, a norcal surfer. Together they move with the ocean and the city that shaped them.

Ernie’s DOER Features are about people who get out and do. People who would still show up even if no one was watching. Jack has said that even if he made no money and nobody saw his work, he would still paddle out with the same attitude.
